Hannah wuz Here
Quote of the month:
Creativity takes Courage
~Henri Matisse
Back when I was in high school - we always wrote our name followed by “wuz here”. We purposely misspelled was to wuz. I cannot say I recall exactly why we did this or who started it or what it meant other than its literal meaning. But I love the context and have brought it back for this blog post.
It has been a super hectic month, but somehow I squeezed in lots of drawing...maybe more than normal. Let’s dive in…
My latest digital sketchbook! It starts with a front cover, then 6 pages of sketch ideas and fun drawings to a final back cover showing “hannah wuz here”. This is a looped gif.

Art I Project - A view of the Perquimans River
Recently, I challenged my art I class to create an atmospheric landscape or seascape with color and it also must include trees. This was an example I created to demonstrate the techniques and hopefully inspire them a little. We used our own reference images and this was a picture I took a few years ago on the Perquimans River.
Art II - Self Portrait Project
Art II is just completing the hardest project of the semester - a self portrait. And this semester - I tried my best to do my own self portrait with the students. It is not quite finished, but since it has been about 6 years since I have drawn my portrait - I was pretty pleased with this result. Now to complete the background.
hannah wuz here - nc museum of art
I was thrilled to get a phone call to visit the North Carolina Art Museum recently and still am so happy my schedule was open and I could go. It has been too long since my last visit. We visited the East building and walked a little around the park a little, as Art in Bloom was going on and you had to buy tickets forever ago to get into the West building. But we had a great time, none-the-less! You know how I feel about sculptures and I just love this thought bubble sculpture! Inspiration was everywhere!
I highly recommend our state’s museum…NC Museum of Art!
Spring is here and in full swing! Loving all the blooms and renewal happening! Trying to stay creative every single day and….just keep drawing.
Stay creative out there~
