Color and Shapes my Way
Jumping right into all the happenings of this month starting with another favorite quote. For the shortest month of the year, it always seems the fullest! From coloring pages to color palettes and craft time too…such a fun creative month!
Quote of the month:
I found I can say things with color & shapes that I couldn’t say any other way.
~Georgia O’Keeffe
When you daughter plans her own Galletine Brunch she cooks and decorates for and also includes a paint craft - your heart swoons! She purchased this paint your own wooden heart kit from Target and what a hit - we had a fun time. Of course, I brought out my painters tape and she was done painting before I finished taping, but we had so much fun!
Each week I design digital wallpaper in the drawing app Procreate. This is a time I experiment with digital brushes and color schemes and gain more experience with digital art making. I share in the hopes that some may want to use it as the background on their digital devices and also to share my journey.
JCPS Educator Wellness Fair - 2026
I was thrilled to be part of the Johnston County Public Schools Educator Wellness Fair again for the 3rd year in a row. This is a time for educators to learn more about services and products provided around the county and local area to help them personally. I was asked to provide a coloring station. I designed all the coloring pages in the drawing app Procreate.
This station is for educators and even some children in attendance to come and color for a few minutes or grab copies to then use in their classrooms or for personal use. This year I added in bookmarks! I designed the bookmarks in Procreate, then printed them on cardstock and precut ready for coloring. This was at the high school I actually teach at, and I had many friends come say hello and color too! Thank you all for your support!
This year was extra special for me because I was also asked to create a logo for the wellness fair to use in years to come! The final design is below:
I came to set up my station and the logo was everywhere! What an awesome feeling to see the artwork in print! Thank you to the district folks in charge who asked me to make a design and for always making space for my coloring station. This will be my final year as I am stepping away from teaching and moving away from Johnston County. My experiences at the wellness fairs are something I won’t soon forget.
Every week I create cards to mail to my grandparents. Some weeks I design them digitally, some weeks I get out my colored pencils, markers or whatever supply I am into at the moment and see what comes out! Here is what I created this month:
COLOR PALETTES
Having some fun with digital brushes and color selections….my digital sketchbook pages this month
Floral Color
A color palette of floral sketches
Thank you for reading my creative adventures every month. I enjoy sharing and hope you find inspiration along the way.
Stay creative out there~
