Take Your Pleasure Seriously

Happy New Year! It is 2026 and I would like to think I hit the ground running to start off this new year. Maybe not like last January where I had created over 60 fabric designs BUT I have been busy creating none-the-less. I always like to find something new to do in the new year and this year is no different. I share that further in this post. I also decided for this new year, I will create digitally drawn quotes each month. I have been searching for refreshing, unique and inspiring quotes that may even be lesser known. I will be continuing my Screenshot Saturdays and even creating more tiny clay vases and pots. Yay for a brand new month and creative goals to keep me going! Let’s get into it…

Quote of the Month:

Take your pleasure seriously.

~Charles Eames

I LOVE this quote by designer Charles Eames. Charles Eames and his wife Ray had an amazing career (to say the least), and their designs are still relevant today. Check out their website to see how far and wide their ideas took them… from architecture to toy designs, furniture and even a few paintings. Incredible work, inspiring creativity and design!

This quote speaks to me on another level. I interpret this quote to mean that my silly art making ideas, sometimes weird drawings and love for art making is serious business. It is serious, as these things are what I absolutely love to do along with teaching. I need this reminder. I almost feel this quote is my permission slip to do what I do and keep the ideas flowing. Keep learning, keep growing, just keep drawing! What a meaningful and inspiring quote! Just what I was looking for with this new blog installation.

I did a NEW thing for this new year - I signed up for digital classes on SKILLSHARE! Yes - a digital platform where teachers create digital courses on tons of information.

I decided at the end of last year, I wanted to try out skillshare at the start of 2026 and try to learn all I can from teachers that I have already been following on Youtube and Instagram. along with finding new teachers. I already have about 600 minutes watched in skillshare and I love it! I love learning, and there is an unlimited number of classes up my creative alley!

I have enjoyed taking classes from a wide variety of teachers, but I wanted to highlight skillshare teacher Rebecca Wilson of Lucky Sprout Studio on her class “Make your own DIY notepads”. What a great class! Check out the 4 different notepad I designed and created after taking Rebecca’s class!

Thank you Rebecca for sharing all your knowledge, design ideas and best practices for printing at home. I have really enjoyed designing and creating these little projects, not to mention how useful they are for my family! Each person received their own personalized notepad.

I would recommend skillshare to anyone who has a desire to learn something new. This platform is huge and covers a vast number of topics beyond only creativity and design. Classes range from minutes to hours. You can also earn badges as you complete classes and hit milestones. So cool!

Check them out….

What will I learn next???

So many creative ideas, so little time! That’s okay, small progress is still progress. I look forward to seeing all this year unfolds as I continue to learn, grow, share, reflect and repeat.

Stay creative out there~
